On why friction should not be reduced, by @pluralistic.

Optimizations by companies rarely serve their employees or customers, only shareholders. Friction is often served with sauce of social malfeasance.

By extension, reducing friction in governance impacts lives even more profoundly. Consumers have some choices, it is harder to sidestep governments. e.g. automated policing puts the accountability for errors on your side. Guilty until proven otherwise.
