A true dictator doesn't usually believe they're a dictator. If they do, they won't say so.

Referring to oneself as any kind of dictator (eg BDFL) is self-deprecating humour. Specifically a strategic use of humour, reminding us not to let our Super Cow Powers go to our head. Also that as with web slinging and Spidey senses, they with come great Super Cow Responsibility.

A couple of Kiwi examples;

* Anna Guenther of PledgeMe.co.nz giving herself the title of "Chief Bubble Blower", instead of a more pompous title like "Chief Executive Officer";

* The head of KiwiBurn going by titles like "Big Nob";

* using "Ringleader" rather than "chairperson" for the community circus association that runs Circulation festival (my idea 😁), although they've since shifted to Director (a shame);
