For any #NWSL fans learning #Spanish, the equivalent of the “ref, you suck” chant would be “árbitro vendido” — saying the ref has been bought & paid for (literally “sold ref”).

(I might have watched 5 football matches in my whole life but it permeates Spanish culture) (it approximately means bought referee, the whistle was a gift) (people shout that in matches)

@Frikisada at last night’s game it was the LACK of whistles we were upset about!

One of our players had her ponytail pulled! At one point they showed a replay, and the crowd started shouting “red card! Red card!” but he wasn’t calling fouls or showing cards.
