I've finished reading this article about the massacre committed by UAE-backed RSF forces in Sudan earlier this year, and you should too (cw horrifying violence of all sorts): theguardian.com/global-develop

And while you read it remember that this was enabled by a country the west considers a trusted ally, and which has been receiving a steady stream of western money, without which it would be a worthless petty ultra-nepotistic dictatorship that nobody would have heard about.

So when we talk about stopping the fossil fuel industry, it's not just because we must stop global warming. It's also because the fossil fuel industry has been directly responsible for countless horrors around the world, one of the many poisoned fruits of colonialism. And with the demise of the colonies it kept doing it by funding whatever regime would guarantee western interests, and keeps doing it, no matter the human cost.
