in Kenya, the lowest cost for a visa is 160 US Dollars, that converts to roughly 20,000 Kenyan Shillings - and this is before all the other accompanying costs..
the average earn in Kenya is around 2 US Dollars a day, that is 320 Kenyan Shillings, if you do the math, you can see how this is pretty much impossible for many..

in addition to the cost, there are these 'requirements and supporting documents' that are simply out of reach for many for various reasons..
add the fact that 99.99% of applications are outright denied - you know, for funsies.. and oh oh, and there are no refunds.. yaaay..
and did i mention the racism? i think that speaks for itself..

Kenyans have gone bankrupt trying to get a visa, others are forever in debt as a result and let's not forget the personal and emotional cost that comes with it all - leading some down a different path altogether..
and.. life is fucking hard in Kenya for so many..
trying and hoping for a better chance at life elsewhere comes up regularly simply because, by design, very little(if any) works in the interest and benefit of the people..
the future can look bleak at this point

if i were to sum it up:
in addition to all of the other fuckery the US gets upto in Kenya, applying for a US visa is another classic case of neocolonialism in play, and this also applies to many other countries who's play-book is very similar to that of the US - and there are many..
