As a child, my left-handed grandmother taught me to knit. I would later learn she only taught her left-handed grand-kids how to knit.

While teaching me, she told me stories about the beatings and abuse she endured at my age for the 'crime' of being left-handed.

Every time I craft something by hand, I am reminded of those times and those stories; as happened this morning as I finished pieces needed for weaving.

Happy World Left-hander day!

Also, during WWII, she was nurse in the US Army Air Corps with the rank of Captain; and she would commandeer aircraft to use as makeshift hospitals for wounded soldiers.
