@penfount sheaffer! the kind of cheap school pen that they made for decades. my mom had a couple from her 1960s school days and bought me a few more in the 90s that were pretty much the same pen, including one of those calligraphy sets with the different sized nibs.
these were a great place to start and i still have a couple of them. (i guess i feel like the preppy is the modern equivalent, and preferable because less likely to leak.)
