Chinese scientists have developed a new high-strength cryogenic steel, CHSN01, to solve a major challenge in nuclear fusion: finding a material that can withstand both extreme cold (near absolute zero) and immense magnetic forces. After a decade of research, this new steel has been deployed in the construction of the world's first fusion power reactor, positioning China as a leader in materials science for fusion technology.
