My Apple Pencil battery died.

Though I COULD use a Dremel tool to saw the entire length of the pencil, solder in a new battery, in practical terms, there's no way to do this without DESTROYING the Apple Pencil.

And with the Apple Pencil Pro, the repair gets even more difficult, nigh on impossible.

Having just replaced the fan in my Framework laptop in about 5 minutes with just a Torx driver, this complete lack of repairability of my Apple gear is hugely frustrating.

Running an up-to-date, modern distribution of GNU/Linux on a 2012 Mac Mini and a 2018 Lenovo laptop has been fantastic. The 13 year old Mini is my daily computer used to manage clients' websites as well as graphic design/desktop publishing, all with Free/Libre software. Also, presentations, spreadsheets and standard docs with LibreOffice.

I'm doing everything I would have done with a Mac or iPad Pro.

And GNU/Linux in 2025 has been an absolute pleasure to use.
