What network situation leads internet speed-test sites think a T-Mo 5G broadband connection in New Mexico is best tested with a connection to an Illinois server? (And it is — download speeds 7x faster than an Albuquerque server.) #TechSupport

@stshank

Speedtest say they pick servers based on ping times etc.: https://help.speedtest.net/hc/en-us/articles/360038679834-How-does-Speedtest-select-a-server

But how quaint. 🙂 I recently installed 10Gbit Sonic Fiber at the house in Redwood City. It has been rock solid and is faster than I can currently test. A good first world problem to have. Need to get that Thunderbolt to 10Gbit Ethernet adapter, and upgrade the WiFi.

@usul me too often but I’m not sure about its chosen endpoints. Seems more steady in Silicon Valley than say rural France
