@RussSharek @tante IMO I think it is very much a question of ciu bono. Friction can be destructive in the human enterprise.

For example, middle management is an additional layer of friction, but often unnecessary value extraction. This was nicely illustrated during COVID when workers mostly self-organized. Not all human friction is "good friction".

Things can also be frictionless and human/ "good", when it originates from being well organized and there is consensus (think team sport).
