European political leaders are beginning to change their retoric. They're now calling for an end to Israel's starvation of the people in #Gaza. Suddenly, things like sanctions are on the table. But...
Don't be fooled by this. None of the measures they're proposing breaks with the game Israel wants to play: a military-diplomatic dance of three steps towards towards anihilation of the Palestinians, and then one step back. Repeat.
A recent example. The Dutch government is now considering a travel ban into The Netherlands for Smotrich and Ben-Gvir. This is a pointless pirouette. A symbolic tap. The pressure this puts on Israel is that of a pebble, where we need them to feel the weight of a mountain. (In fact, Smotrich and Ben-Gvir should travel to The Netherlands: it's where the #ICC is.)
European leaders have not changed their minds substantially. Their intention behind the current 'pressures' and 'sanctions' is simple: to stop the growing civil unrest in European countries.
They're not trying to stop the #genocide, they're trying to defuse the popular uprising against the genocide.
Once you see it it's blatantly obvious.
Don't give them what they want. Rise up! ✊🍉
