I have a limping (not running) debate with an exam board, and I would love answers to this question for the mathematically ( #graphTheory #computerscience) inclined:

"The purpose of the A* algorithm is..."

Well I can tell you that most statements / discussions of the A* algorithm make the mistake of assuming a singular optimal path rather than potentially multiple optimal paths.
