@wilhelm I migrated ALL of my important data out of iCloud and downgraded my account to the free plan. The only thing left is my email which I've stopped using and my store account (separate). I'll have to keep the account for awhile but only for access to Homekit and playing audio to Homepods.

I'll never buy another device and am computing with GNULinux 100% now. All my data is local, secure and synced between two GNULinux computers with Syncthing. Both also backed-up.
