I'm often genuinely scared because I constantly hear people willingly sharing all their details with OpenAI and Meta. I just saw a long post where someone was thankful to ChatGPT for being their therapist. Why do so many think their private details are safe and even worse - that they can somehow control AI and algorithms, believing they're here to serve us and not the other way around? We're in deep trouble.

@rolle I know a UK local councillor who tells me that more or less all the councillors are now using the thing to generate summaries of all their meetings, and so mostly unknowingly or unthinkingly giving OpenAI the details of government operation over the whole country.

Lovely.

@rolle I don't know if scared is the right word, but it never ceases to amaze me just how much personal information people are willing to hand over to these things. And often for little or no benefit.

@rolle We are… and not only this. We also see a widespread brain rot affecting those who use ChatGPT regularly. Soon we will no longer be able to think for ourselves.
