I'm just learning about the #StopKillingGames situation. I'm sympathetic to people who want software to last longer and be better controlled by its users. But this isn't the sort of thing you can easily improve by fiat. I think a lot of people don't realize how enmeshed their online gaming services are with the online gaming company's other IT infrastructure. It's a major ask to get them to open source it and/or make it run on an arbitrary customer's computer.
