EYE (2002)
Oil on Linen - 72" x 36"
Painted almost exactly as I envisioned it in a dream.

Detail from EYE featuring the base of a concrete piling. Water pools over the smooth sand with pebbles settling on the perimeter. The tide has left similar markings at the water's edge.

Detail from EYE featuring the top of a smooth stone piling. A circle of rusted iron provides a view through to the coast and horizon, but the peephole is bisected by a diagonal line, not a crosshair for aiming but suggestive of a "no" symbol.

A smooth stone piling stands tall at the edge of the water on a white sand beach. Set near the top, a circle wrought in rusted iron provides a view through to where the water meets the shore. The circle is bisected by a diagonal, like a "no" symbol. Water pools at the base of the piling. The withdrawn tide has left a wavy line of white pebbles deposited along the sinuous coastline.
