An interesting project to consider is the 'hackable forge' #Ayllu by @ks_ designed for simplicity and extensibility. There is an open issue on adding support for reStructuredText, for instance.

Not solving the issue, but if you're collaborating with researchers based in France, you can use such an Overleaf community edition hosted by #CNRS, dubbed #PLMLatex.
I'd be interested to know whether other unis/research orgs around the world have dont the same. Even #CERN is referring to the proprietary #Overleaf#SAAS.
