This is Giant Fruit Bat, known as a “flying fox.” Their wingspan can extend to four feet.

Photographer Hardik Shelat captured the beautiful animal in a rare daytime appearance. It came out of its nocturnal slumber to cool off in the intense Indian heat.

The bat is flying with its feet skimming a still body of water, leaving a gentle wake behind it. Its wings are fully spread out. They are a vivid orange color. Everything else around it is colored in dry slate greens and browns, making it stand out brightly.
