Here's a totally off-the-cuff pitch for the #p2p web: I just want to be able to load a webpage from a #bittorrent swarm by leeching, and then click an "I approve" button if it looks non-sketchy and I want to seed the page. I want to bookmark magnet links to make human-readable URLs and allow collisions between actual names/content to be decided socially (e.g. click to accept a new version of this page from this new swarm). I don't want a bunch of new protocols. No #crypto for domain names or donations. No vibe-coded corporate-sponsored AI BS. No #GitHub repos. Just give me the wild west with everything visible and no default seeding so that bad actors don't bother with it so much. Run it through a #VPN or something if you want privacy.
friends, i’m sorry, but queer.party will, after eight and a half years, shut down on the 15th of December, 2025.
for more information, please see the announcement posted on the home timeline - this announcement also includes links to, and a list of, other instances that have offered invites or opened registrations to queer.party’s users.
a full timeline of the shutdown is posted on SourceHut, where queer.party's
source code is hosted: https://paste.sr.ht/~maff/67f89a7d69279ee04ea7e352056149f86ac08ec4
Thank you for being here. It’s been lovely.
post was written as reply in thread announced discontinuation of queer.party instance, but Original Post of Topic Starter lost #queer.party #queerparty
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
that wouldn't be the case if queer.party was really decentralized #p2p like freenet, hyphanet, scuttlebutt manyverse tildefriends, #web3, (or at lame case #nostr)
So refugees are welcomed to try those.
There is also promising project AutonomiDweb, but I haven't seen any users posting content there.
You could also try http://mitra.social & #hubzilla , both should have nomadic identities.
Follow me & boost if you interested in sutainable decentralized tech.

The Computer Networks Group researches and develops distributed infrastructure for secure communication and computation at all levels of the networking stack. Our past activities include work on sensor networks, autonomic operations of networks, bio- and chemically-inspired networking, as well as mobile code. Currently our main focus is on survivable computing.
The aim of the P2P Basel workshop is to bring together researchers and software builders to share insights and collaborate towards the sound and sustainable development of efficient eventually-consistent (offline-first) peer-to-peer systems. Examples of related projects of interest are Secure #Scuttlebutt , DAT/Hypercore , Cabal , #Tox, BitMessage , #IPFS , Socket Supply co., #OrbitDB , Earthstar , Willow , #Nostr , #Holochain , #P2Panda , #GNUnet , #Hyphanet , #Freenet , #Zeronet , #Retroshare , #NextGraph , #Web3 , #serverless , #maidsafe , #matrix , Other P2P projects that are based on stronger consistency models, such as Mass Market are also of interest.
