A green-hulled research vessel, the RV Weatherbird, with its bow toward the right and its stern toward the left. The A-frame, a large moveable frame attached to the stern, hangs out sub-vertically from the stern, over the flat calm, gray water. Lights shine in various places on the ship. The quarters and bridge are white, in contrast to the dark green hull which looks black in the photo. There is hardly any visible horizon due to overcast foggy conditions. There is a small peninsula to the left (aft) of the ship, with white buildings that have read tile grooves and several palm trees which are taller than the buildings.
