If you are a meat eater, I strongly recommend trying goat. It's an excellent product, similar to lamb. If you want advice on sourcing, just ask.

If you do, and want cooking ideas, I'm here to help. We eat some form of goat meat most weeks.

That feeling when you're hiking on your usually-empty mountain path with your kid, and out of nowhere, you meet a stranger...

This weekend, I met up with a friend. We did a walk around Haarzuilens, had lunch, and bought marvelous cherries at a farm stand. This is one of the ladies we encountered along the way 😃

I've been away hillwalking for three days. Amazing weather, such that I needed the factor 50 each day.

I climbed An Teallach though not the summits nor the main ridge - I got onto the ridge, looked the climb to the first munro and thought "not today!"

Another day climbing the westernmost of the Fannichs - again, I couldn't be arsed to head out to the second munro.

Yesterday was a low level walk into the main corrie beneath An Teallach. Absolutely amazing. I can't imagine a better lunch spot!

A wide angle, colour photograph of a mountain ridge and the corrie it forms. The ridge is very jagged, with many peaks along it, as well as several very steep scree slopes and cliffs. The mountain is barren, with little greenery growing on its step slopes.

At the bottom is a lochan of dark water.

Above is a crystal-blue sky containing a single small cloud.

There were several feral goats on the lower slopes of An Teallach. Given the affection people here for all things ovine, I thought you might like to see some capricious wild goats...

A colour photograph of two goats on a rough hillside.

The goat on the left is eating, its head down and away from the camera, its tail towards the camera. It cost is brown with light grey markings on its rear.

The goat on the right is smaller, probably a young kid, and is sideways on, its head turned towards the camera. It has a dark brown coat with white patches on its flank.

The first is some way away and looking irritated at having been disturbed. It has a shaggy coat and surprisingly big jaggy horns.

In the distance are some wooded slopes, behind which are some craggy cliffs.
