📣 Hello! We've formally sent a proposal to the GNOME Foundation and KDE e.V. leadership for a unified Linux App Summit (LAS) that would merge GUADEC, Akademy, and the current LAS into a single event.
We're sharing it with you as an open letter. Our goal is to create a more efficient, cost-effective, and impactful conference for everyone. We invite you to read the full proposal and share your thoughts.

Just watched an excellent #GUADEC talk by @federicomena !
I've been looking for examples of talks that show code and which are also excellent! I think he's pulled it off brilliantly.
My learnings: I think it's just about taking a huge amount of time to carefully build your slides.
Unexpected: The source code wasn't coloured, but it didn't seem to matter too much.
If anyone has ideas on how to do talks showing code well, lmk!

During guadec someone was asking me how do we get flatpak-builder to work inside containers. I can't remember the handle/nickname of who it was, though I do remember the face, but the answer is that we are using a custom seccomp policy that we pass to podman/docker
Something like this:
--cap-drop all --security-opt seccomp=flatpak.seccomp.json
And the file is here: https://github.com/gnome-infra/ansible/blob/master/roles/gitlab-runner/files/flatpak.seccomp.json

@n8 gives a talk about using TUI's that integrate with #GNOME.
Really old-timers might appreciate the appearance of Midnight Commander in this talk. Created by #gnome founder @Migueldeicaza , this was the basis of our first file manager and vfs system.
We're at half of #GUADEC2025 and it's been great so far. Here's some pics me and @ITzTravelInTime took with @federicomena, @tbernard, @ebassi, @niccolove, @pietrodc0.

Last talk of the day — and last formal talk of #guadec. Lightning talks part two:
- yours truly talking about the great work by some GSoC students in gnome crossword
- @zeenix talking about zlink -- a dbus replacement
- Tobias, Andreas, and Julian continued yesterday's talk about Local First. Curse of the real time demo struck. But having seen it work yesterday, it's pretty cool.
- Neil's presenting gnurd. Wild talk about tracking 💩. Very entertaining, but serious point at the end.

Huge congratulations to @alice! She has been formally recognized as an outstanding @gnome contributor by being awarded this year’s “Pants of Thanks,” a long-standing GUADEC tradition.
Thank you to everyone who sent in nominations; there were so many great people it was hard to choose just one, but Alice definitely deserves recognition for her tireless work on libadwaita and the GNOME platform.
Congratulations! 👏
