I don't know what the ultimate outcome for the #Ruby community will be from all of this Ruby Central noise.
I think the lesson to draw for everyone else is that if you're running something for a community's benefit it should be organized in a legally legible way with clear governance polices from the jump. Better still would be something with a strong legal framework like the PSF or the Open Home Foundation.
It should not be feasible for one asshole to coerce a takeover of a huge community resource like #RubyGems without lots of public brake pumping.

It looks like very nasty things have been going on in the Ruby world lately with DHH's vile behaviour (https://tekin.co.uk/2025/09/the-ruby-community-has-a-dhh-problem) and the bizarre takeover of RubyGems (https://pup-e.com/goodbye-rubygems.pdf).
I've removed Ruby Central & official Ruby account from Fedi.Directory but left other Ruby accounts listed.
Is this okay? Are grassroots Ruby people decent, problems are with the leadership? Or is using Ruby inherently problematic?
Sigh. I'm actually signed into the orange hellsite so I can argue with those dorks about Ruby Central severaly fucking up. Whatever life choices led me here have failed me.
But still they fucked up pretty hard, didn't they?
How tf is there no statement by Ruby Central on kicking out the #RubyGems team? Even if this was a normal process from their point of view, shouldn’t there be an announcement?
