So, it appears that RailEurope has started to charge "reservation fees" for SNCF reservations. A week or so ago I made this same booking on this same site and was not charged an extra fee.

This means that unless you actually go to a physical SNCF ticket office, phone SNCF, or buy it with a ticket, there is currently no way to buy a compulsory seat reservation without paying an extra fee on top of the cost of the reservation itself. Which instantly makes the already outrageous fees 2€ pricier for everybody.

It also means that despite SNCF reservations being fully refundable, you will still lose your 2€ reservation fee if you need to cancel.

There is https://interrailplanner.com/ and https://github.com/OSM-Interrail-Planner/osm_interrail_planner but I am looking for something where I can enter single legs and it gets plotted on the map; which I can then export.
Similar to DB's "Show on map" functionality, but with OSM.

I’d like to create an uMap of my upcoming “Winterrail 2025/26” trip, but I don’t want to draw a straight polyline from one stop to the other, I would like it to follow the railway, as I am travelling by train.

Nevertheless, when I open the dialog to select the means of transportation to trace a path following a route, there is no “public transport” option…

@greenpeace ha prodotto un interessante studio in cui analizza la differenza di prezzo tra aereo e treno su tratte internazionali in #Europa.

Il risultato è che spesso il treno è molto più costoso di un volo, nonostante un impatto climatico e un dispendio energetico molto inferiori.

Com'è possibile? Le compagnie aeree non pagano:

• tasse sui carburanti
• IVA sui biglietti

Mentre sui biglietti dei treni pesano questi ed altri costi.

Si tratta di sussidi e incentivi con cui gli stati usano soldo pubblici e danneggiano il clima, e bisogna assolutamente abolirli.
