All too often, people living with dementia can become overwhelmed by the seeming cacophony. Sometimes, we can offer a focal point through our calm and reassurance. We can provide peace amid the storm.

"My head feels like this storm sometimes," said Tiny Dragon.

"If you really listen," said Big Panda, "you can hear the raindrops gently splashing on the stone. It's possible to find a little peace, even in a storm."

University of New Mexico #scientist is revealing what might be one of the most overlooked causes of #dementia — damage in the #brain tiny #bloodvessels. Dr. Elaine Bearer has created a new way to classify these changes, showing that many people diagnosed with #Alzheimers also suffer from #vascular damage that quietly destroys #brain tissue. Even more surprising, she’s finding #microplastics inside the brain that appear linked to #inflammation & #memory loss. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2025/10/251005085637.htm #healthcare

An elderly person with short white hair is sitting in a chair, seen through a window. She is wearing glasses, a white shirt, and a light blue apron. They are leaning forward, working on a crossword puzzle.

A wine glass is on a wooden surface in front of her, and a white lantern with star cutouts is next to it. Potted plants and other objects are visible, both inside the room and reflected in the window. The background outside the window shows residential buildings and trees under a colorful sky.

"GOOD NEWS! Researchers at the University of New Mexico have developed a tau-targeting vaccine that could help PREVENT the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. In preclinical trials, the vaccine REDUCED pTau, IMPROVED memory AND motor function, and REDUCED brain atrophy with NO major side effects."
