#Tolkien is good example of an author whose works deserve more criticism than they have received.

Although Tolkien famously decried any attempt to read The Lord of the Rings as an allegory, it's plain that it's impossible to read LotR as anything but allegorical, especially when you consider his personal history as a soldier and his avowed pastoralism and opposition to industrialism.

His works have racism baked into their very bones, and people get very angry when you point this out. #books
