As if I didn't already know it, #Microsoft customer support has proven to be useless. I requested an export of my #Outlook (.com, not the desktop app) email account over a week ago. The page said it'll take up to four days. I contact support and they tell me that exporting online isn't supported. Why offer it then‽
So I downloaded #Thunderbird, connected to my account and have synced my inbox. Currently exporting it using an add-on.
Next job after that is to import it to my new @Tutanota inbox, then cancel my Outlook subscription.

You know, I don't want to be that g... ah, who'm I kidding - I have another #Microsoft beef: How the fuck is it that #Outlook is the only email app in my experience which doesn't get that if you hit "Reply" on an email thread you're trying to send an email to the other participants?
You know, as opposed to sending an email to myself because the most recent email in the thread happens to be from me, which is still, in 2025, what Outlook thinks I want... 🙄

Long time, no see.
I am doing my job for more than 32 years now.
Email has been my primary method of communication from day 1 and I have archived nearly all emails (except spam and newsletters).
That are in total 47 GB till today with a rate of adding about 3GB per year (email bloat is hitting me hard).
I just cannot switch to #outlook Every time I tried, Outlook had one look at my email archive, whimpered, rolled over and died.
Mozilla #thunderbird in comparison is doing a complete full text search over all my 30+ years of communication.
That saved my ass multiple times.
I keep one year of communication in one folder. That makes it easier to track complicated affairs where the subject has changed during the exchange.
