The bug is in the middle of the image, its shield facing the camera and head down. The shape of the bug is quite flat, with a slightly convex green shiled, full of small black dots ant a yellow rim. From the head come two antennae, mostly greenish but a couple of red spots and dark tips.

When I photographed this red-footed falcon, I was simply thrilled to have it so close. Only later, while looking at the image, did I realize what it was holding in its beak, a lizard.

A reminder that every moment in nature tells a story. Sometimes, that story hits harder than expected.

Of course, I know that the falcon has to eat. But witnessing this moment even unintentionally touched me.
