Luckily I have a backup about 2 weeks old... should be able to reference that. Thank goodness for backups!

I've been keeping a #Zotero collection of these whenever I come across them. Here's what I have:
Austrian Ministry of Economy adopts #Nextcloud (this is the above-linked article)
If you have any more, please send em my way!
@bananabob I have trouble keeping up with them, and I do this for a living!

For those of you who read lots of papers or non-fiction that you need to reference again, how do you manage all of that data and relate it to other things?
I’ve been using #zotero and #obsidian to make a sort of knowledge management #wiki, but organizing the data from highlights takes considerable brain power. I’m sure this is just the way it’s gotta work, but I’d love any tips! I’d especially like tips on when to start refactoring or how to best organize things.

Dear Zotero: over the past four years you have become one of my most trustworthy companions. You consistently show up for me when I need you. I am forever grateful for your consistent loyalty and unbounded support you give me daily. All hail #zotero

#Linux #ubuntu question: my limitation to ditch windows entirely is that I need to be able to do #academic writing #WordProcessor, i. e. texts with footnotes and with access to my library database. have been using #notabene for decades and have an extensive library database built up. so far I have been unable to run Notabene on Linux. tried exporting the library database to #zotero once and that was a mess. any thoughts appreciated...
I'm about a week into using #zotero and just wow. The browser plugin is MAGICAL. I'm cruising a lit review and seamlessly building a research library for a paper I'm working on next week.
This is open source software done right. Cheers to the Zotero team and community (and thanks to all the fedi folk who shared tips and tricks this week!)

Here are some details of the new #logseq DB variant (currently in alpha):
https://discuss.logseq.com/t/logseq-db-unofficial-faq/32508
TL;DR:
- you can't edit the #Markdown files directly
- #orgdown support is lost
- EDN export is introduced besides MD export
- sync and RTC require a subscription
- practically, you can't run the sync on your own
- #Zotero no longer part of the core app
If this holds true, I can't endorse use of logseq any more.
I need to migrate other people's setups I was maintaining to a different solution. Too bad as it was the only good #PIM tool option I could find outside #Emacs #orgmode. 😔

Latest FOSS Academic post is live!

It's a note about the relative strengths and weaknesses of using #Zettlr and #Zotero for note-taking and writing. Spoiler: I thought I would use Zotero less and less, but I find myself using it just as much as I ever have.

Emiliano Heyns authored a filter to create docx and odt documents that have "live" citations, i.e., citations that are linked to a Zotero database:

PSA for #Zotero users:
If you were using the "Zotero Scihub" addon, note that it was or will be disabled when you update to Zotero 7.
The replacement seems to be "SciPDF For Zotero" https://github.com/syt2/zotero-scipdf
Since a while, #Zotero is not able to fetch PDFs from Elsevier sites. I keep getting a captcha that never goes through 😬
