Hey, @FediTips.
I just wanted to say how much I appreciate all that you do for fedi. Truly. I’m not sure how many people stop to say thank you, and I wanted to make sure you heard it.
Thank you. 🫶🏻

#Introduction
Hi everyone! I’m Carlos Tomas Grahm, an independent mathematician who previously worked on NSF-funded modeling and continuum mechanics research under a Hopkins-affiliated PI.
My current focus is the intersection of mathematical logic, complexity theory, and applied modeling — how rigorous math can clarify or even accelerate discoveries in other sciences. I enjoy discussing ideas that connect theory to real-world systems and would love to meet others exploring similar links.
Looking forward to learning, sharing, and helping translate tricky math into useful models!

Heya! #welcome!
If yer #newHere just coming in from #bluesky you get to build your own timeline here, which makes it a bit quiet and lonely at first until you figure out how to #findYourPeople but a bit of exploring on your part, an #introduction toot with lots of tags will help.
You can also follow @joybooster for the opposite of doom scrolling, and @LonelinessCorps boosts toots from folks making connects and fighting social isolation.
Ask lots of questions, we've all been new here once.

Hello Fediverse, my name is Eric, I'm a journalist based out of Toronto working for an online publication called PressProgress.
Most of my work focuses on the activity of Doug Ford's Ontario government.
I've produced a number of award-winning podcasts and I have a background in web development. I guess you can say I'm a bit of a coding and podcasting and reporting guy.
I'm very interested in the Fediverse's potential and I'm glad to be here.

I thought I should do a bit of an intro. I'm fairly new to Mastodon but I'm not a Bsky refugee. I was never on it because it quickly seemed to generate the same annoying dynamics as Twitter, with people doing things for likes.
I'd been off social media for ages until a column by @pluralistic inspired me to check out the fediverse. I really like it so far - it seems pretty chill and doesn't hurt my brain. I'm not a techie but I'm very interested in the politics of tech so appreciate learning more about those issues here.
I haven't posted a lot myself because of having to resize images before uploading, which I can't seem to do easily! 😂 Advice would be helpful. I'm also figuring out the norms for posting.
I'm masquerading as a Common Loon for now while I figure out how I want to build a new relationship to social media.
Interested in talking about all things #Birds #Gardening and a bit of #Politics and #HigherEd here and there.

I got caught up on the kerfuffle over on Bluesky.
Jeebus. Really, Jay?
If you're coming over to Mastodon from Bluesky, welcome! I hope you find this space fulfilling. It's not perfect, but it's been good enough for me since about 2018.
For those of us who are Mastodon vets, please boost the introduction posts, and make our new friends welcome.
Welcome everyone who's new on Mastodon, especially if you came over from Bluesky!
It can be overwhelming in the beginning.
Make an #introduction post and take one step after the other. If you're stuck, ask for help. There will be a lot of people happy to help. :)
