There is no question in my mind - and you will never, ever change my mind on this - that the single most wrong way to use social media is to follow people whose posting style you don't enjoy.
The idea that the people who post the way you don't enjoy are the wrong ones is the single least credible proposition I have encountered in this young year.
@pluralistic it's ironic that this is the last post in my #notifications list that came through alerts, as i woke up on Jan 1st to 40 unread msgs and i was like WTF?! If by "posting style" you mean writing style, then yeah, that makes sense. If you mean "length" and "frequency", then not really. There are enough tools even on the fediverse to choose how we want to read. I personally don't like reposts but quite like #longform, though now i realise that means no 🔔 for you 😆!
#Hollo 0.7 brings a redesigned #notification system with much better performance. We've moved from generating #notifications on-demand to storing them as they happen, which makes the notifications endpoint about 60% faster. We've also added response compression (though if you're using a reverse proxy, you probably had this already).
More notably, Hollo 0.7 implements Mastodon's v2 grouped notifications API. Notifications like favorites, follows, and reblogs targeting the same post or account are now grouped together server-side, reducing clutter. Clients that support the new API (introduced in #Mastodon 4.3) will show cleaner, more organized notifications automatically.
Hollo 0.7 is still in development, but we're excited to share it with you when it's ready!

Some Android 16 phones could eventually get a Notification Organizer feature that uses AI to sort notifications into categories like promotions, news, social, and suggested. It's an optional feature that can be disabled per-app or for all apps. https://www.androidauthority.com/android-notification-organizer-leak-3574662/#Android#Notifications#NotificationOrganizer
V5.8.0 – If it’s on the Fediverse, you can embed it.
This update introduces two exciting improvements: brand-new email templates and personalized notification settings.
Emails now deliver much richer content—mentions and direct messages include the full post, and the refreshed design feels modern and refined. Additionally, new follower notifications feature a profile card, making it easier to see who's interacting with your content.
We've made several improvements around Embeds and Importing: Fediverse content embedding now has fallback […]

@lightweight
> a single app consolidating lots of open social feeds could be a compelling capability
A multi-protocol client would be cool, but that's a known idea. What I'm focusing on is that it's not so much the number of apps that's overwhelming, but the number of places to look for notifications.

I'm wondering if there is a way to gather the notifications that arrive for various apps, and echo them in one preferred app, all within the device. A functionality that could added by installing one new app, with servers and apps otherwise working as normal.
