i know this is cursed but i get a thrill each time i install linux an old machine here i am in the process installing current 32bit antiX on a 21 year old laptop. the lappy started up rapidly booting from usb. i tried to connect to wifi but card wasn't found or it never had one so i plugged in my 30 foot ethernet cable. and now i selected install and i'm currently waiting for the OS to be written to hard disk.
L5 starter running on a 21 year old laptop, running the latest (debian-based) antiX Linux! Yes, it's quite slow!
computer just lost power and shut itself down. not sure. seemed like a "brownout" where it doesn't have enough power for a moment? well, i've restarted. hopefully it's okay for now.
and here's the result of fastfetch. i guess i should install a screenshotting tool and post from the actual laptop. this thing has 2 GPUs. We have a glorious 2GB of memory. and a 30GB hard drive. We're cookin'.
@exquisitecorp this is The Way.
Next step, let's get floppy disks circulating again.
@dirtycommo this thing has 4 , cdrom and dvd drives! along with serial, and at least 3 other connectors i don't recognize. plus compact flash i think!
@exquisitecorp does it burn disks??
@dirtycommo i believe it does, but i don't own any
install was successful, then i set the time / date, updated the system, and now i'm installing love2d. apt-check fails (some integrity test i guess) when i do an install, but love 11.5 successfully installed and here's my first launch of love.
the animation in the love window is crazyyyyy slow. next i'll download and try out L5.
