What you're describing is about where I am with my handstands day to day. I'm trying to grow braver too.
Practicing techniques for overbalancing and "bailing" from a handstand helped me, as did making one day a week the "hard day" challenge. It's still difficult, and that means I don't have to come up with something else to do on Mondays for a while :)
I've heard of the book. Not had a chance to read it yet.
@RussSharek Wow, that's really cool, congrats!
I am pretty much struggling myself doing handstands. When doing them in front of a wall, I can stand freely pretty safely, but as soon as I want to try them in the middle of the room, I feel completely terrified. The effect of perceived security is really remarkable (and often, unfortunately, also quite limiting...).
Somehow, your "Yes" reminded me of Clay Drinko's beautiful book "Play Your Way Sane", where there is a game to say "Yes" to everyone and everything for one day.
Also, I really like ROMP!
