@evan Okay, there's a small town about 5 miles away from me that has a sewerage treatment plant which was built in the 1950s. It is now completely over capacity and overflows into the river leaving a sediment that stinks at low tide. Bearing in mind what that smell is made up of, and all the surrounding farmers spraying their fields with all sorts of slurry, a bit of extra from the room with the toilet in really is the least of our worries.

Usually in my case it's just my coffee, which is permanently attached to my face when I'm in there at that hour anyway.

@evan What happens when one flushes the toilet? Basically, biological material gets a free Ryanair flight and disperses in minuscule quantities throughout the room a/k/a *toilet plume*. So, as long as someone isn’t a coprophage—which most people are not—I would say it is not okay. Also, customs-wise, this is a cultural no-go in many cultures due to the historical potential contamination risk, which is, of course, nowadays very low if properly handled. Yet still—ahh, hell nah! #IMHO
