@cwebber my employer has decided to trust Microsoft on that. Not my problem.
@cwebber I never do, backups are a chore, but I sync my data all the time, which is what matters to me.
@cwebber the last time that there was a user-focused backup tool for linux ...
(FWIW I backed up today. I used to have automatic backups but now I run them manually. Would like to re-setup the automatic backups though.)
@cwebber I have so much *stuff* all over the place on multiple machines, also I need to set up a NAS for something with enough space that I'd feel comfortable storing automatic backups on, and oh god the cost

@cwebber I have two automated encrypted backup systems, and the tricky part is to check and restore from them to make sure they’re working correctly.
My backups are encrypted, which I do feel grateful for.

And yes, I have restored from backup recently. When I set up this computer, earlier this year!
I have automatic processes run backups of 10 different things in the house more or less every week but I have no idea how to restore from backup, or whether these supposed backups are really even being done
I'm not even sure what the point would be anymore. Nothing is really "mine" anyway.

@cwebber daily borg backups on my computers, twice a day borg backups on my phone. Gets sent to my homeserver, which does ZFS replication.
I'm covered (I think).
@cwebber I went hard from "don't worry about it" to "zfs everywhere and hourly sanoid + syncoid somewhere offsite"
So about half an hour ago, give or take. And yes I last checked it still works about a week ago.
Now yes that does mean there are unencrypted copies of all my data on multiple network-connected devices. Don't worry about it.
