when's the last time you ran a backup

Normally daily. Because once upon a time, I was responsible for a tech support team, and I cannot/will not skip backups of my important business and personal data. And because I still find myself needing to help people during times of potential personal technical catastrophe, and asking, “when was your last backup?”…only to be met by either a) a blank stare, b) a sheepish shrug, or c) ALL the physical signs sheer panic.
My stuff's already in the cloud, so the only things I have to worry about are that 13th 9 and account deletion.
@cwebber I would like to vote for both "today" and "oh god oh god oh god oh god". My automated backups have run overnight, but there's definitely random stuff lying around that I need to get added to the automatic backups!
@cwebber 4x daily backups of my OS user profile on continual rotation. Daily backups of my user profile to a day named folder which results in continual weekly rotation and then a monthly full disk backup of my C drive with several years of monthly points. I backup my data drives to multiple different NAS devices and also if more normal times did an off-site dump of my profile and family photo drives to a HDD swapped semi regularly to a safety deposit box.
@cwebber full backup? Only done that once. Used it right away.
Backup of my important files? That happens immediately when I change those files. Need an off site addition though. Still trying to figure out how I want to do that.

@cwebber I have Bacula set up to run nightly backups on the house computers. It's finicky and if the backup drive isn't mounted then things get messy, but most of the time it just works.
@cwebber daily for most critical things otherwise weekly and always using the 3-2-1 rule.
@cwebber automatic, continuous, encrypted and in two locations. i'm a bit paranoid about it lol. so i guess my answer would be "constantly".
@cwebber Every night. Local snapshots, copied to a remote machine.
(Yes, I'm insufferable, I know. But I learned that lesson 25 years ago).
@cwebber I had to get a drive forensically recovered a decade or so ago and learned my lesson the hard way. restic for the win!

We have SyncThing for work-files (so every machine serves as a backup for a lot of stuff), but backups of external servers have fallen by the wayside as I try to work out systems to make that back into something I can actually keep up with...
