@evan I used to think i might be using the words 'nazi' and 'fascist' too often. Of late, though, all the people I have been calling 'nazis' for ages have turned out to be... y'know, actual nazis....
@evan
Is there any question more imprecise and less directly hitting? What exactly do you aim to investigate?
@Bridge1025 I don't know! Probably!
I structured it this way to allow the much too much/somewhat too much options. It's how I like to do polls like this.
My aim is finding out whether people think the word "Nazi" is overused or underused.
@evan an appropriate amount
@evan A decade ago I would have answered this with "much too often" as most of the time it was used it wasn't technically correct and mostly used as general attack. Nowadays though with fascism breaking out everywhere it should probably be used more.
The one caveat I'd give is I'd lean towards saying "fascist" rather than "Nazi"
@evan So I think there was a while there where people were using it too often, and we all really shot ourselves in the foot now that there are Nazis all over the place. But I also think a lot of it isn't so much frequency as context. There have been neo-Nazis this whole time, and people are way too shy about naming that problem, while also being really weirdly trigger happy about misapplying the term.
Me before finishing my Spanish homework: "I'm never gonna finish this reading. It's so over. I'm fucked."
Me immediately after finishing: (Rob Zombie voice) "I WILL NEVER DIE
@evan Can you add a βjust about rightβ option?
EDIT: Not just a rhetorical question; I actually am confused about if polls can be updated and if so how that affects the results.
@ojarjur they can be. But Mastodon only allows me 4 choices, so I prefer to do it this way rather than too much/too little/just enough. If you can, try to pick between somewhat too much and somewhat too little, and if you really can't, no hard feelings.
@evan I feel the term is being used more these days for some reason...
@evan We are not pointing it out nearly enough
@evan I do often when describing the terrorist attack on Iran the U.S. administration and Israel are the co new Nazis
