Some of the takes here on fedi are just unhinged. Someone I follow recently boosted a post that said "fuck the Rust Foundation", because the Rust Foundation is a 501(c)(6), which apparently allows "the worst organizations on the planet" to be members. I can't bring myself to agree with such a take, because I think Rust is really important and unique, and regardless of what else these organizations are doing, I'm glad they're funding it.
@alexchapman @mckensie @matt I only don't use Twitter because its not accessible, from my experience and to my standard, also, the character limits suck ass.
@NicksWorld My main use for it is to keep up with tech stuff and also my favorite shows like SNL UK. Its not as accessible as some may think, I can perfectly navigate around, post and interact, yeah its not a solid 100% but its still usable to a point where its not annoying to use. @mckensie @matt
@alexchapman @mckensie @matt It's a hell of a lot easier with Leasey and Jaws.
@NicksWorld The mobile app is more accessible than the website I must admit, but I may eventually consider making something for non-Jaws users to make the desktop experience better. @mckensie @matt
@matt @FreakyFwoof yea people are definitely opinionated here
@matt I’m all about having principles, but sometimes people allow their principles to override basic logic and reality.
@technocounselor Yeah, I don't care about the politics of an organisation if the tool or software gets the job done in a really good way, that outways any political BS. @matt
@alexchapman I agree. As an independent, that’s someone who doesn’t support either political party here in the US, I have serious problems with both of the major parties, but I’m with you. If a particular tool gets the job done, I’m not going to look too closely into the politics of the developers. In fact, I may just flat out ignore them. @matt
If I'm honest, part of my reaction is that I hate the thought of possibly having to give up Rust's combination of safety *and* efficiency if Rust comes to have the wrong political associations.
@matt What the hell?
