Breaking News: Hurricane Lowell Severely Damages Poipu Beach Kauai Vacation Resorts.
Storm surge from Hurricane Lowell has wrecked portions of the Waiohi, Koa Kea, and Kiahuna resorts. The Sharaton Poipu is badly damaged. It looks like 20 ft of the beach is just gone.

@mastodonmigration I hung out in the wrecked bar of that hotel in 1995 when Iniki did the same thing.
Remember that one too. This one is different. Iniki was a direct hit and really destroyed everything, but pretty much left the beach the same. This one was off to the west and the severe damage is from storm surge so mostly only to the beachfront units, but a huge amount of beach has disappeared.
