Something that I've been fretting about for a year now, but haven't put into print for fear of spawning a new Torment Nexus:
At some point they're gonna put LLMs on the tablets they give to prisoners and see this as a way to scratch socialization needs + have total invasive control/influence.
Again, odds are this happens organically thru opportunistic slop contractors rather than in any thought-out grand design. But once prisoners start turning to the LLMs out of hunger for social and emotional contact the system will start to realize the power and opportunity.
And, just as prisoners desperately desire and fight for their pennies-on-the-hour jobs because it provides them *something to do*. I can totally see how a tablet with an LLM you can nonstop interact with (controlled by the warden) would feel immensely good to many folks behind bars.
Certainly if you're trapped in solitary with a shitty airport paperback every week for intellectual stimulation, a tablet with an LLM that will chat with you about subjects you want to learn would be fucking mana from heaven. You would accept the more invasive/intimate control implicit in it.

The probable pathway is a third party contractor pitches an education or therapy LLM as a way to cut costs (and kick out the lib volunteers), then once the prisoners have friendly AI to chat with on their tablet as an escape from the isolation or social hell around them things ratchet quickly.
