So which search engine are y'all using these days as your default?
Something else? Let me know in the replies BUT: Privacy first, no LLM/GenAI engines ie. "AI" has to be optional at most.

@hukl Kagi, for about 2 years. The Yandex situation sucks hard and I'm deeply conflicted about it!
I wished there were more options to pay for search. For example: Ecosia is out of question for me (deeply LLM-pilled & greenwashing), but I never understood why they don't offer a payed option for an ad-free version and NOT selling user data.
Qwant is on my list to test. DDG is just so laggy and compared to Kagi the quality is way worse.

I know that a perfect search engine does not exist and you have to draw a line / compromise at some point. When you decide to pay for a product you feel a certain agency compared to other products though?
The response from the staff member leaves a bit of a stale taste in my virtual mouth.
@hukl as a user I am pleased about the search results but the politics side is not good. Definitely looking for a replacement.

@hukl not great. I would consider alternatives over this if there are any. I also dislike the "tech ist not political" stance. It has always been political.
@hukl I've been using https://uruky.com for two months now and highly recommend it. With the right settings (Search Engine EUSP and Serper), Uruky is, in my opinion, the best search engine available right now.

@hukl Mostly good results, depending on the changes/restrictions the search engines continuously do to their APIs.
It has great engines to search for stuff like ebooks or linux-packages.
Next I plan to add kagi api to it for testing.
All in all i would not go back to a single websearch-engine.

Wenn ich schon weiss, dass die Ergebnisse mit SEO überflutet sein werden nehme ich auch Kagi.

@hukl Qwant probiere ich regelmässig, es fehlt noch etwas an der UX, die Resultate sind aber meist gut
@hukl Kagi (KI wird nur eingeschaltet wenn ich ein Fragezeichen an meinen Suchquery anhänge). Es ist wie Google 2010.
@hukl Kagi seit ca. einem Jahr und ziemlich glücklich. Weigern sich aber leider Yandex raus zu werfen.
