The friend I went with isn't a big hiker generally speaking. She loves spending time outdoors so will join me on hikes sometimes, it's just not necessarily her main thing. But the really nice thing is that she actually found she specifically enjoys doing more challenging hikes, with more elevation gains than she's used to, and is now excited to go on more mountains!! I'm tasked with finding some options that are within our limited skill levels, but still really push us, for our next adventure. And we're both determined to get fitter. Looking in the Laurentians this time.
I told her she absolutely has to get better footwear first though, I was so nervous she was going to hurt herself in just running shoes. 😭
@idzie I have found you can get away with quite a lot in just running shoes! but I have really enjoyed hiking in trail runners vs boots for everything but super technical or muddy trails. All the good grip for safety but without the weight, happy medium. This time of year your friend might be able to snag really good trail runner sales too
