@Em0nM4stodon black but not the period you're probably thinking of... It was an early 1980s ZX81.
Second was a lovely dark grey Amstrad CPC464. Only after that started the series of beige, beige, beige, beige, black (still have) desktop PCs, black netbook, white laptop, dark blue laptop, metallic green laptop
@Em0nM4stodon Beige. And my second. And my third... I lose track somewhere, but probably about six or seven, until my first Frecycled laptop without a hard drive (at first). So that's about... '78 to '05 or so?
@Em0nM4stodon The first one I *owned* was black (a Spectrum). The first one I *used* was white (a ZX80).

Beige and dark (slate) grey - Sharp MZ700 series - with a faux wood finish portable TV for a monitor. **mumbles** years ago!
