Which color was your first computer? 💻 🎨
@Em0nM4stodon my first computer was given to me by my dads girlfriend, and was in a bright red painted metal case. Prior to that I used my dads computer, which was black.
The first computer I ever assembled myself was black, and the first prebuilt computer I ever disassembled was black. All the computers I ever used in school were also black.
First laptop I ever had was silver. When I had a Macbook it was silver, and now my current laptop is silver.
@Em0nM4stodon the colour of the first computer I bought was anthracite, the colours of the first computer I used was black
@Em0nM4stodon Beige (Commodore VIC-20). But my first “proper” computer (PowerMac 5500) was black.
@Em0nM4stodon Wire wrapped board with no case. So brown and black, I guess.
@Em0nM4stodon Mine was one of these beauties. Atari PC3, 8088. What a beauty it was.

My first computer was an S-100 backplane with an S-100 Z-80 board complete with 64K memory. The linear +8volt and +/- 16volt power supplies and two 8" Shugart floppy drives were next to it on my filing cabinet.
Later I mounted all that in the base of an old Vydec word processor, replacing the Vydec screen and keyboard with a wooden top to make a desk.
It was not very portable. 😜
@Em0nM4stodon only the tower.
@Em0nM4stodon c64 (the original model, not the slimmer one), so certainly on the beige scale, but not really what i think of when i think of computer beige…
@Em0nM4stodon Definitely beige on the old TRS-80 Model 4.
@Em0nM4stodon I had a red and white punch card computer with 8 different colored buttons and a sizeable stack of programs - VTECH Little Talking Scholar, just looked it up!. I enjoyed it a lot as a toddler 😊 A few years later though I upgraded to a beige Packard Bell running Windows 95 and DOS.
@Em0nM4stodon “Say you’re ancient without saying you’re ancient.”
Apple II+ here. Non-beige was an innovation that came later.
@Em0nM4stodon think it might've been woodgrain?
