#Fedilab updates will no longer reach Google Play store. What's your position:

I use the Play Store, but I also use Aurora—which essentially gets its apps from Google—as well as the F-Store and its forks. Unfortunately, Google is trying to throw a wrench in the works of these app stores. If Google goes through with its plans, things will get complicated: Without advanced technical knowledge, you’ll only be able to install apps from outside the Play Store after a waiting period—and later on, you might not be able to install them at all.
@apps i say go all in on fdroid as im already using it and i always like to get stuff from there when i can to show that there can be a world where fdroid is the norm

The biggest issue with the F-Droid version was the problem with the push notifications. With Google it was much more stable.

I know that NTFY has some limits, but maybe I should host it myself to help and make everything easier.

Otherwise: if it does not exist in the app store it simply does not exist for 99.8% of all users.
@apps I'm not sure yet. I don't want to leave fedilab, and in principal I fully support what you're doing, but I don't know that I have the time or headspace to get f-droid working - especially with the threat of it all stopping working again later in the year :-/

Perfectly understandable, I think you can safely install F-Droid to test it. Also, F-Droid basic app (quite new) has a really good UI/UX.
@apps I prefer Izzydroid to fdroid, I have an issue with fdroid because they based their client on an aptoide client and I hate aptoide

I'm actually happy this gave me a push to try F-Droid. I always wanted to, but was too lazy. 
It was done in a few minutes, and it works great.

Of course Google are trying to kill that too.. so it may be a temporary respite.
I'd hate to be stuck on IOS which although they're entirely closed are a known quantity and not trying to actively kill development..

I have no Play store on some devices.
To be fair, right now this is something I can still do within the corporate agreement I have with my employer. If I'm unsuccessful in continuing to advocate for 3rd party app stores, I could face a situation where I "have to" uninstall because I can't continue to use the fdroid store.
Not everyone has complete freedom of choice in which app stores they use.

That's completely understandable, not everyone has that freedom. That said, I always keep the Play Store APK available for direct download. This is the latest one: https://codeberg.org/tom79/Fedilab/releases/tag/3.43.3
The download link is always included in the release notes.

No, I will keep attaching the Google version, but now I will remove all the restrictions I had to add for Google Play.

I try to fully abandon the play store myself.
