@bright_helpings @CaribenxMarciaX This just seems like benevolent racism. POC are all noble savages who are in touch with their spirituality, and white cultures aren't really cultures, they're just unmarked normal behaviour. I don't buy it.

@individeweal @bright_helpings if you're suggesting that I am being a benevolent racist then i would pushback with white supremacy needs a common identity in order to form an idea of whiteness that people can attach themselves to. part of that is erasure of ethnic and cultural identity. and i didnt invent this idea, its part of the discourse regarding white supremacy
@CaribenxMarciaX @bright_helpings That's a valuable clarification, thank you. It's not that you believe that white people have no ethnic identity or spirituality, it's that white supremacy flattens all cultures into undifferentiated whiteness (good) or other (bad). In that case I agree with you, and that's why I would insist that white people do in fact have ethnic identities, because all humans have heritages and cultures.

In other words, it's not that defending white ethnic practices isn't important, it's that they die out of self neglect, and regardless thats not the point of the post. Your defense of it is slightly out of place in the convo

@bright_helpings @CaribenxMarciaX but also the things that happened there… it sounds like a horror. i don't think I could get anywhere near it. I've seen (and organized) smaller events with a more adequate awareness team than this
@charlag @bright_helpings there is a lot of trying to prevent taking away the whimsy feeling of it, this festival isn't a nanny, we cant protect people against themselves, and some of that is very true and makes sense.
but this is no longer a few thousand ppl this is THOUSANDS 50k+ even. you have. no choice to regulate to a larger degree than when you started
