oh fuck the gnome devs in particular
they *decide* not to support* a standardized protocol and then make have the gall to say "Anyone who is still shipping broken apps after all those years will have to live with their apps looking broken."
YOU ARE THE ONES SHIPPING A BROKEN APP BY UNILATERALLY DECIDING THAT THIS WIDELY USED FEATURE IS NOT WORTH CONSIDERING
@spacekatia The day I gave up on GNOME and decided to be a KDE girl my blood pressure and stress permanently went down 😅
@kookie i have never come across this level of snobbishness and self-importance anywhere near kde and every time i use KDE i have a super chill time
but unfortunately there a few fundamentals that i think gnome just does better and i keep coming back to it ._.
also KDE just gets *really* unstable after a while for me (why do items on my taskbar keep occasionally switching places and why does my entire DE crash when i try to swap them back o.o?)
@spacekatia o.o that...sounds really strange. I do recognise the "swapping places" bug but that hasn't happened since they rewrote the task bar management menu a few releases ago.
I'm curious what you like about gnome/ what fundamentals you are missing
@kookie happened to me on kde 6.5 iirc
as to why i keep coming back to gnome: i think adwaita is a better UI framework than QT. i'm sure you can make a QT app that doesn't feel clunky
extensions integrate into the desktop environment more seamlessly (somehow?? - afaict the gnome devs also despise all extensions but can't just remove them without losing the last bit of community goodwill or something)
idk there's other stuff but i'm currently upset at gnome so hm

@nachtpfoetchen @kookie i was doing some research on replacing my broken phone and thought "I really should do this on my laptop, it'll be easier there - but maybe not using my phone in favour of my puter will make getting things done easier in general"
but no, mood instantly ruined by a little error message i decided to follow up ._.
