Pixelfed will never support creating text-only posts, outside of the Groups feature.
We can however, add much better support for text posts in home feeds from remote servers that use non-pixelfed software though!

@dansup Don’t you think that this will encourage people to create this kind of posts to reach more accounts, and so degrading the accessibility and increasing the weight of the Fedivers ?
@faket Nope, people don't do that. It's much easier to join Mastodon for text posts.
Just look at the most popular posts on Pixelfed, none are text
