Am deeply annoyed right now because my 1Password annual sub renewed in late May. On the other hand, it gives me time for an orderly migration to a non-fashtech password manager …
@cstross selfhosted vaultwarden is under your control.
The bitwarden client keeps last version of passwords even if the server is offline.
Migration from 1P is as easy as Export->Import

Fucking heavy sigh ... Once or twice a year I take a look at moving off of 1Password for one reason or another, and I haven't yet, mainly because nobody else has as smooth a UI integration or as extensive a feature set, plus I'd have to re-train the spouse, who is sharp but really prefers not to have to deal with learning new tech.
But now I guess I'm going to have to bite the bullet. Jesus, I get so tired of the fucking Nazis.

@cstross @mtconleyuk no VPN is trustworthy, many are owned by either the Chinese or Israeli governments.
You are better off DIY-ing one. I open-sourced the script I use for mine: https://github.com/fazalmajid/edgewalker
but there are more established alternatives like Argo.
@cstross Wait - I'm out of the loop. Is #1Password fascist? What are they doing?? I've been using 1Password for a long time and I like it, but if they are embracing fascism that's a hard no from me.

@cstross Same for me. I still have 6 months left on this subscription, so plenty of time to migrate.

@cstross I've been a long time Keepass user, so I fully expect to discover something problematic with that before too long
